The police are to look again at a party that took place at the Tories London HQ during lockdown.

The renewed interest comes after a video of the event was run in the Daily Mirror.

A Metropolitan police statement said the video was “being considered”.

The footage shows at least two dozen Conservative party workers and officials having a “knees-up” – drinking and dancing and eating from a food laden table.

It was held on December 14th, 2020, just days before Boris Johnson, the former Prime Minister, was forced to cancel people’s Christmas plans because of rising infections.

Leveling UP Secretary Michael Gove apologized for the party – adding that it was “indefensible terrible and completely out of order”.

Two of the people present went on to receive honours in Mr Johnson’s retirement list.

The video showed people dancing despite signs in the background warning about social distancing.

One of the partygoers asks a colleague – “are you filming this?”

Another man can be heard laughing and saying:

“As long as we are not streaming that we’re, like, bending the rules.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said:

“We are aware of the footage and are considering it.”

‌Asked about the footage, Mr Gove told Sky News:

“It’s terrible.

“The fact that this party went ahead is indefensible.

“I’m sure the people who were there feel contrite.”

‌He added:

“I want to apologize to everyone who, looking at that, will think these people are flouting the rules designed to protect us all.”

‌Among those present were Lord Bailey, a former London Assembly member, and Ben Mallett, who was the Tory campaign director for the 2021 London mayoral election.

‌‌‌A Conservative Party spokesman said “formal disciplinary action” had been taken against four staff members after details of the gathering emerged.
