Ferrari F40 worth £1.5 million confiscated by police for having no insurance

A Ferrari F40 worth £1.5 million was seized and taken away by police because the supercar wasn’t insured.

The car was put onto a low-loader and hauled off to a compound.

The owner will have to pay a £150 recovery fee and a daily storage charge.

Police in Suffolk posted online pictures and details of the confiscation.

The post said:

“Following a few checks turns out this really expensive car which was recently purchased, did not have any insurance… oh man, bad times.

“Driver dealt with for no insurance and vehicle seized… recovery looked well panicked when they turned up!!

“Well done team.”

A Suffolk Police spokesman added:

“The vehicle was removed by a recovery company and the driver.

“The owner is able to get it back once they prove a policy of insurance has been bought.

“They also have to pay a £150 recovery fee and daily storage costs until they collect it.”

The much-coveted F40 was first built in 1987.

Only 1,311 were made.

The F40 has a top speed of 201mph and regularly sells for more than £1m with some examples fetching more than £2m.
