A pair of trainers worn by Michael Jordan have sold for £1.7 million at auction.
The signed shoes are among the highest prices paid for Jordan memorabilia.
A jersey he wore in the 1998 NBA Finals sold last year for £8 million.
The shoes were auctioned in America by the London firm Sotheby’s.
Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Streetwear and Modern Collectables, said:
“Today’s record-breaking result further proves that the demand for Michael Jordan sports memorabilia continues to outperform and transcend all expectations.”
The Air Jordan XIIIs were worn by the basketball star during his last championship season with the Chicago Bulls in 1997-98.
Jordan had the size-13 shoes on when he scored 37 points in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals series, carrying the Bulls to a 93-88 victory over the Utah Jazz.
The Bulls went on to win the league.
According to Sotheby’s, after the Game 2 victory Jordan gave the shoes to a ball boy in the locker room as thanks for finding a lost jacket.
